TOOTING: Tootopia is back again
This weekend sees SW17’s is-it-really-the-end-of-summer food and drink fest slam back into gear. The streetfood takeover pitches up at popular local boozer the Graveney & Meadow and features a selection of London’s hottest traders of #foodporn from the Gyoza Guys, bao bad boys Le Bao, poutine purveyors The Gravy Train plus middle-eastern magic by Laffa and tapas from Tibieri. Amongst others.
For Tooting tourists, a Foodie Trail will also guide punters to ten of Tooting’s tastiest hangouts, with a Thirst Quest highlighting the area’s new and best-loved juice bars, bottle shops and breweries. Plus there’s activities for kids, a Pooch Parade, clothes wwap, XL Records pop-up, art fair, silent auction and more. Full line-up and details here. Festival runs 23rd-25th Sept
BROCKLEY: Market’s 5th birthday
With an award-winning line-up of over 40 independent street food stalls and local producers, foodie mecca Brockley Market turns the big 5 this month – and welcomes its 500,000th visitor at the same time. Not bad for what started out as a side project from a local photographer.
The tummy-filling occasion will, of course, be marked with all sorts of surprises this weekend. Celebrations include a 5th birthday cake and treats from Kooky Bakes, live music from Balkan folk collective Benny and ‘The Cheese Grinder’, plus the first lucky 50 visitors will get a goody bag.
And, as well as the usual groceries stalls, expect some of the capital’s best streetfood trucks and stalls including Bill or Beak and Mother Flipper. Follow @brockleymarket on Twitter or more info here. 10am to 2pm, Sat 24th, Lewisham College Car Park, corner of Tressillian Road and Lewisham Way SE4
