3. Help to make SE5’s Remakery

remakery

The Remakery is an exciting new green-minded space that will soon host a shop supplying affordable materials for DIY, gardening, art, design and crafts, as well as renting out studio spaces and hosting workshops for local residents, makers, artists and businesses. The theme for all of this? You guessed it: the reinvention and re-appropriation of things that might otherwise be thrown away.

It is housed in a former car park, tucked away in the Myatt’s Field area of SE5. And right now, they need help finishing the building and get it ready to open later this year. So, tonight (Thursday 28 March) there’s a painting evening: the hard work will happen between 6-8.30pm – wear old decorating clothes – and by way of reward for volunteering, there’ll be free pizza and cold beer for workers.

You’ll also get to find out more about this interesting new enterprise, as there will be Remakery team members on hand to chat to about the project – and if you want to become a member or volunteer for something else, they’ll be happy to sign you up.

Want to get involved? No DIY experience is required, just enthusiasm – just RSVP to construction@remakery.org “so we know how much pizza to order” say the organisers.

The Remakery, Garage Block 1 (below flats 2-40), Paulet Road Estate SE5. Entrance is from Penford Street, the cul-de-sac opposite Minet Library. See it on this map.
