4. Grill Jay Rayner: tonight
What has Jay Rayner let himself in for? The famously Brixton-dwelling food critic has agreed to a Q&A tonight, with Brixton’s Women’s Institute.
The event (to which non-WI members – and both genders – are most welcome) ties into the National Federation of Women’s Institute’s ongoing campaign, The Great Food Debate. But we’re guessing there may be some lively heckles on the side about Rayner’s tempestuous relationship with nearby Brixton Village (the writer says he’s been accused of being “a one-man gentrification machine” and, in a recent withering review, claimed that that a certain new chicken shop in the market made “mounting a defence much harder”).
The event is tonight, Thursday 28 March. It takes place at the Karibu Education Centre, 7 Gresham Road, SW9 (across the road from Brixton Police Station) and is free to WI members, £5 to guests. It runs from 7-9pm. Reserve your place in advance by emailing brixtonwomensinstitute@gmail.com
