Pinboard: urban demolition art in southeast London, the pop-up National Theatre and the return of the South Lambeth market

2. Catch a screening on the Elephant’s infamous Heygate Estate

Anyone who has spent any time in Elephant and Castle in the last few years can’t help but be struck by the all-pervasive area regeneration that’s been going on. As with any change, it’s had mixed reactions: is it revitalising or sweeping away the area’s character?

See what you think for yourselves after watching the upcoming community screening of Home Sweet Home, a film by Enrica Colusso. It takes place on the derelict and soon-to-be-bulldozered Heygate Estate, where the director chose to live 20 years ago. Filmed over a four-year period, the film studies the “complex but intimate story of urban and social transformation” as well as charting the film-maker’s own journey as she looks back at the place she once lived in and asks: “What kind of society are we building?” The screening is followed by a panel discussion with Enrica Colusso; Jerry Flynn, a local resident; Ben Campkin, author of Remaking London: Decline and Regeneration in Urban Culture; Dave Hill, editor of The Guardian’s London blog, and the photographer Michael Collins.

Monday 15 April, 7.30pm at Pembroke House, 80 Tatum Street, London SE17. Free entry (limited seating). RSVP to info@opencitylondon.com by 4pm, Friday 12 April.
