Pinboard 16 May: get ‘spirited away’ in Brockwell Park, grab gourmet hotdogs in SE1 and hear some sweet, sweet beats in Brixton

1. Brixton: Hollie Cook hits Plan B tonight

310709_507535542646387_687423282_n The musical vibe at Brixton’s Plan B tonight is determinedly sun-kissed. We love Hollie Cook’s sweet, old-school tinged reggae sound – and she is the special guest of headliners, Sashi & The Wild Beans. The soulful ska lovers, whose debut EP True to Yourself you may already have heard, tonight launch their Little Man video, with the help of Cook.

Hollie Cook’s summery sound has some serious heritage behind it. The singer ditched school to join The Slits, has duetted with Jamie T and Ian Brown, been produced by Prince Fatty and had a devastatingly cool musical upbringing. Her dad is Sex Pistol Paul Cook, her mum, Jeni, was a Culture Club backing singer, Boy George is her godfather and David Bowie once babysat her. Jealous? We are.

Accompanied by Plan B’s bone-shaking sound system tonight, Hollie’s set tonight should be a corker.

Doors 8pm – 1pm. Tickets: £4-8 (£10 on the door). Plan B, 418 Brixton Road, SW9 7AY. Tel – 0207 733 0926
