1. Peckham: Frank’s is back
In case you hadn’t been counting the days, this weekend Frank’s Café and Campari Bar on the roof of Peckham’s now-infamous multi-storey car park is back for the summer season.
The bar, run by art collective Bold Tendencies – who you may know have put in a bid to turn the entire carpark building atop which their bar perches into a swizzy new permanent arts centre – opens for the summer (summer?) in July, until September.
Kicking it all off tomorrow, Saturday 29 June, the new Bold Tendencies project and exhibition opens. It has been curated by Camberwell graduate Joe Balfour. The event, which takes over the top four floors of the car park, features site specific art, events and education programmes – as well, of course, as Frank’s. This year there’s also a rooftop public square inspired by Derek Jarman’s Dungeness Garden, a contemporary music festival featuring Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and a Nigerian film festival.
