Oval/Stockwell: A new pastries palace for SW9?
We are very excited to hear about a new opening on the rather sparsely serviced Stockwell/Oval stretch of Clapham Road. Dolcezza is a “pasticceria”, or a traditional Italian sweet bakery. Also a cafe, it will be opening this week in beautiful 1903-built Printworks, a high-ceilinged warehouse-y space formerly known by locals as the Freeman’s Building, as it had been long-occupied until recently by the eponymous mail order firm.
As well as cakey things, the 50-seater place will be serving Milanese coffee (they’re the sole UK sellers of 7Gr, caffeine geeks) and sandwiches, salads and pizzette. We’re going along to the opening and shall report back – meanwhile, we’re spending some time staring at these gratuitous photos of the cakes they’re promsing to sell.
Dolcezza, 139 Clapham Road. Tel: 020 7820 3987 Email: Email firstname.lastname@example.org. Opening hours (from tomorrow): Mon-Fri: 7:30am-6pm, Sat: 9am-5pm
