4. Peckham: Happy Pexmas!
Maybe you went to the inaugural Pexmas market at Christmas, 2011? This Peckham event has grown since its first outing, back then, and now it returns over the weekend with MUNCH, a food festival where you can stock up on groceries, snack on street-food, browse foodie magazines, spruce your cooking space or listen to food-themed talks.
Among the action you’ll find one of our writers, designer Anna Dent, selling her beautiful wares – including tea-towels and placemats. There is also to be a huge mural created by local mural project, Gourmandizing, a supper club-cum-art installation organisation founded by southeast Londoner, Matthew McGuinness, a chef and artist originally from Brooklyn. The innovative project aims to turn local recipes into giant paintings. The community-spirited event which has Peckham Food Bank as its nominated charity, will be showcasing new, appropriately-themed products created by young people living in the area too.
Pexmas MUNCH will take place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July, 2013, in Holly Grove Park and Shrubbery just north of Peckham Rye Station, SE15. It’s the green section in the map on the left, click on it to enlarge. @Pexmas
