Kentish Town*: Our in-house artist gets his first solo show
* Yes, we know… this one involves a trek to north London, but we had to include it as it’s a nice little claim to fame for us: the first solo exhibition by our very own in-house artist: aka, Russell Loughlan, who created the beautiful Below the River logo.
Russell’s work combines reclaimed objects – postcards, pages from old books – with his beautiful illustration to create thought-provoking vignettes. “I try to attribute emotions to animals with results that are sometimes funny, sometimes shocking, but always touching,” says Loughlan, a Central St Martin’s MA graduate. “At least I hope they are.”
Can’t drag yourself up north? Check out more of Loughlan’s lovely work at his website. And if you’re a south London gallery interested in exhibiting Loughlan’s work below the river – drop us a line: info@belowtheriver.co.uk
The show runs from this Saturday until 29 July at the Beardsmore Gallery, 22-24 Prince of Wales Road, NW5, tel: 020 7485 0923
