Brixton: the Splash is back and bigger than ever
The streets of Brixton will be throbbing with the sound and smells of the Brixton Splash this Sunday.
Sound systems, barbecues and acrobatic children are just part of the celebratory, community vibe wafting from Coldharbour Lane across to Windrush Square. This year, a first, sees a full line up of live performance on the main stage: featuring reggae, bashment, RnB and soul – and a star spot from Brixton’s own grime humourist, Big Narstie. Check out, too, the after-party on the roof terrace of the The Lambeth (formerly Dex), featuring nattily-dressed, implausibly energetic septuagenarian dancehall lover, DJ Derek, pictured left.
Brixton Splash 2013 takes place Sunday 4 August, 12pm-7pm Brixton Town centre: Atlantic Road, Coldharbour Lane, Effra Road, Electric Avenue, Electric Lane and Rushcroft Road.
