Pop Brixton has become quite the institution over the past couple of years. It currently hosts 55 independent businesses and has provided choons, booze and nibbles to over a million people since it opened its doors. Not bad for a space that used to be a disused car park.
This weekend is its 2nd birthday and to mark the occasion, in true Pop style, there’ll be a three-day party, packed with live music, games and mouthwatering street food and drink.
On the Friday night No Long Ting and Reggae N That will be collaborating in an all-night back-to-back DJ set. Next day Pop transforms into a full on day-festival: expect a full line-up of DJs and artists alongside party hats, giant cakes, birthday balloons, piñatas, free festival face painting and party games.
Finally, on Sunday, the space will be transformed into a mellow, family-friendly zone, blending music, movies, shopping and street food. This’ll include all the Pop favourites such as Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen, who’ll be fusing Ghanaian food with a food old-fashioned fry up for brunch to soothe those post-birthday blues.
