Have you spotted this new neighbourhood eatery yet? Pedler, the brainchild of local Taskin Muzaffer, is the latest smart opening in an area fast becoming the foodie capital of south-east London. It has 70 covers too – so no tiddler, in fact.
Muzaffer is the clever bloke behind Little Bird Gin and a former director for city bar group Drake and Morgan, so expect a strong cocktail list, decent wine list, tons of craft beer – oh, and a daily menu masterminded by head chef Gareth Crosby.
So what’s for dinner? Seared king scallops, buttered Swiss chard and lardo (pork fat); duck rosti, poached eggs and red onion chutney; smoked brisket, hispi cabbage and bacon sauce; and chargrilled pig’s ribeye, sautéed apple celeriac and carrot lentils. At least, this week anyway. But it changes constantly – perfect if you’re local. They also use ace nearby suppliers like Bellenden Road’s Flock and Herd.
All in all, it sounds pretty mouthwatering – if only we weren’t having a couple of self-inflicted weeks supping on vegetable ramen and tap water. But, don’t fear, we’ll be trying Pedler out very soon, so watch this space for a review.
