Pinboard 16 May: get ‘spirited away’ in Brockwell Park, grab gourmet hotdogs in SE1 and hear some sweet, sweet beats in Brixton

2. Herne Hill: Free films and junk hunting in Brockwell Park

spirited2Remember Camberwell’s excellent free film festival a couple of months ago? Now the organisers are back – this time in Brockwell Park, hosting an outdoor screening of the magical, Oscar-winning Japanese animated feature film, Spirited Away (pictured above) this Saturday, 18 May. It’s part of the Herne Hill Free Film Festival, which runs until 1 June.

The screen will be up just outside the Walled Garden and white temple, which are just down the hill from the café in the centre of the park. The film starts at 8.50pm and guests are to enter via the Herne Hill. Drinks and hot food will be on sale at stalls and from the café. Hope it doesn’t rain!

As well as the film this weekend, the park is also hosting its small but sweetly formed car-boot sale on Sunday, in the Lido car park from 9am till 1pm.

Brockwell Park, Dulwich Road, SE24. Herne Hill gate at corner of Dulwich Road and Norwood Road. Find out more about the screening at Freefilmfestivals.org
