Surrey Quays (and Walworth): Revisit 2012 Olympic debates – through art

postcard to the world cooltan arts

Last year’s summer of Olympic love may feel like it never happened, but you can relive that feel-good vibe all over again at a new exhibition hosted by Walworth’s mental health arts charity, Cool Tan Arts.

In a collection of artworks-on-postcards, exhibited at Canada Water Library, participants from Cool Tan Arts illustrate the impact the Games had on people and the city. Themes include people’s altered perceptions of disability, the transformation of east London, the sense of sharing an experience, zealous protection of the Olympics branding, the expense of hosting and simply a single athlete’s memorable performance. So lots to re-spark those debates.

You can also explore the exhibition without leaving your screen, via a blog showcasing the artworks.

Postcard to the World opens tonight and runs until 20 September, at Canada Water Library, 21 Surrey Quays Road, SE16. Tel: 020 7525 2000. Exhibition open: Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm;  Saturday 9am to 5pm; Sunday 12noon to 4pm. Cooltanarts.org.uk
