Pinboard 25 July: Theatrical goings-on in Nunhead Cemetery, SE1 sing-alongs, SE5 knees-ups and the return of the Brixton Bolt

The Palace of Varieties is back

palace of varietiesWe won’t bang on about this excellent night out in Camberwell tomorrow… because you can read all about the Palace of Varieties in yesterday’s fascinating story about the area’s racy theatrical history.

In short, it’s a Victorian variety show with a modern twist, named after SE5’s most famous old-school music hall – The Camberwell Palace. The building, alas, is no more – but this occasional night of bawdy entertainment, comedy and music is keeping its spirit alive.

Tomorrow, you will find it at the Dulwich Hamlet Football Club, Edgar Kail Way, London, SE22. Tel: 020 7274 8707. Doors open at 7.30 and close at 11.30. Tickets are £10 and available from Palaceofvarieties.co.uk
