Pinboard: south London as art, film for free and sexy riverside housing

5. Check out student house-share comedy, Trash, at Kennington’s White Bear Theatre

TRASH at White Bear Theatre KenningtonRelive the idealist activism of your student days (or take a busman’s holiday if you’re still at college… and an ardant freegan). Failing that, if you liked Channel 4’s student houseshare comedy, Fresh Meat, this new play at Kennington’s theatre-in-a-pub the White Bear may appeal.

First-time writer, Tom Hunt, draws on his own memory of sharing university digs with a bunch of politically committed bin raiders, an experience he has previously described as like living in a “quirky sitcom”. Along with mushroom foraging and junk hoarding, the students in Trash also have a community band called Jamnastic.

It is produced by LittleBerry, which showcases new writing and strives to kick-start the careers of talented school-leavers, actors and graduates.

White Bear Theatre, 138 Kennington Park Road, SE11. The show opens next Tuesday and runs until 13 April. Tickets cost £13 (£10 concessions). Telephone Sales: 0844 8700 887
